Vengono presentati due fregi dorici del tutto simili per materiale, dimensioni e rendimento stilistico, rinvenuti in condizioni di reimpiego nel centro storico di Bari e finora inediti. Essi potrebbero aver costituito parte della decorazione di uno o due monumenti funerari eretti nel municipio romano di Barium tra la fine dell’età repubblicana e la prima età imperiale.
Doric Friezes in Bari
The article presents two Doric friezes, very similar in material, dimension and style, found as reused building materials in the historic centre of Bari, and heretofore never published. They may have been a part of the decoration applied to one or two funerary monuments built in the Roman municipium of Barium between the end of the Republic and the beginning of the Imperial period.
